Fly Fishing Skiff Charter

2019 brought a new level of fly fishing experience to 7wtCharters with the purchase of a 19′ East Cape Vantage skiff. This open water skiff with 150hp ETEC HO will get us to all the fishing grounds comfortably, dry and safe. Outfitted with custom-casting platform, leaning post and trolling motor.

Taking into consideration the season, current weather and wind, we’ll target Redfish, Tarpon, Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackeral, Pompano and Jack Crevalle. We will fish the flats, inlets, feeder creeks and bayous from The Narrows of Ft. Walton to the mouth of the Choctawhatchee River in Point Washington to skinny water Redfish in Bay County and hunting Tarpon further East.

Kayak Excursions

Fly fishing from a kayak is the stealthiest way to set onto some great action. Depending on which area we paddle, I also like to get out and wade fish the grass beds as well. This is a wonderful way to see the local marine habitat up close.

One of my favorite trips is to paddle from Lake Powell, Phillip’s Inlet Bridge, through the natural cut to the beach and surf cast for Pompano and Redfish. This is one of our area’s largest rare dune lakes with brackish water, as the fresh and salt waters mix.

I have traditional sit-inside kayaks, with life jackets, rods and all tackle. Let’s go for a paddle!

Dock Lights Trip

If you’ve never fished after dark this is a blast and a memory you’ll never forget. We will drift from dock to dock, chucking flies at wary Redfish and Trout. This is a warm weather trip with the added bonus of getting out of the 100 degree sun.

Tarpon Trip

Our Tarpon migration kicks off Mid-May and runs to Mid-August. We at 7wt believe casting a fly to a Tarpon is the pinnacle of fly fishing. Staked out on a crystal clear flat, sighting a pod of fish heading your way is as exciting as fishing can be! Tarpon charters are full-day trips that start very early and are an absolute adventure from start to finish! Sandwiches and drinks provided, but eat quick because they’ll show up when you’re stuffing your face!
